As we prepare to move to the new membership system, we are working through compass to ensure all the information is correct. As part of this we have noticed over 70 roles within the district are missing the role variant, this this the bit after the “-“ in the role title like ‘Section Leader – Beaver Scouts’ or ‘Assistant Section Leader – Cub Scouts’.

HQ and some counties and districts use the role variant to send emails about section support, information and news. HQ also use the role variants to build the monthly membership emails, so making sure these are correct will mean all the information you receive is relevant.

Over the coming weeks we are working with HQ to amend these, so your members may start to see these appear on their existing roles soon.

Moving forward, please ensure that any new members that you add have the role variants listed when you add them to Compass.

It is also important that all roles are recorded on Compass, so if a member is both a Section Leader in Cubs and Scouts then they should hold the following roles:

  • Section Leader – Cub Scouts
  • Section Leader – Scouts

This then means members are receiving the relevant updates for all their roles and allows us and HQ to recognise all the hard work the members put into volunteering.
