As a Permit Holders and Leaders, you help deliver fun and safe activities for young people.
Over the summer months, we’ve heard of some incidents where Permit Holders have not focussed on keeping themselves safe as much as the groups they’re looking after. While the safety of young people is our priority, you also have a responsibility to look after yourself and role model positive behaviours.
You should make sure you’re constantly refreshing your skills, and checking that any equipment you’re using is safe. Running sessions alongside other Permit Holders is a good way to share best practice and share the supervision.

Finally, I’d like to say thank you. You all play such an important role to keep young people safe, but more importantly to enjoy adventurous activities they otherwise wouldn’t get to experience.
