As we look to build back better from the pandemic, HQ want to better understand our current membership figures. This October, we’re going to ask Group Scout Leaders and District Explorer Scout Commissioners to count their youth members and submit the data for each section online. This will be a much simpler process than the Census, and we’re not gathering any gender, age, or diversity data.
We’ll continue with our annual Census in January as usual, and we’ll use the Census to work out everyone’s UKHQ membership fee payment. We’ll share more details and guidance on the October membership count nearer the time. We’ll send Counties, Areas, Regions and Districts a report generated from the count to help with planning and budgeting. The count will also help us understand where to target our support and will help us with future funding bids.
