We have been contacted by Healey Rd Wildlife Centre (charity number: 1171753) who are located at the rear of Healey Rd allotment in Scunthorpe. They aim to provide a community outdoor space to advance the education of the public in the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment by establishing, promoting and maintaining an Education and Wildlife centre and making it a space for Children/Young People, Elderly/old People, People with Disabilities and The General Public to visit and enjoy.

The centre is now open to the public, and they would love to run a range of organised group activities that make the most of its facilities, promoting the wildlife and benefits of time spent outdoors. Within their group of volunteers, they have a wealth of knowledge and passion along with experience in running successful informative and fun events for a range of ages.

So far at the centre, there’s a cabin (with power provided by generator), minibus parking space, composting toilet facilities, greenhouse, wildlife pond (with pond-dipping platform), a mixture of plants and trees, open space, bug hotels and a collection of wildlife habitat boxes and bird feeding stations. The centre was formally wasteland that had been rewilded and repurposed. They believe it would make a great place to visit or run a night from. Aiming to be flexible as possible in arranging activities. They’d appreciate your ideas and input, but most of all, to see the centre being used to its full potential, whether that is a little bit of pond dipping, getting hands in the soil doing some planting, a spot of bird watching or just enjoying the outdoor space.
