As promised at the county roadshows, here is the information about the blended approach for delivering first aid.

Humberside is now set up to use the e-learning hybrid method for First Response delivery. This means members can complete an approximately 2-hour e learning module at their own pace, and then attend a 2 and a half hour session either face to face locally with a trainer, or on zoom to complete their learning.

To access the e-learning, members should go to https://hampshire-scouts.thinkific.com/courses/firstresponse where they can enrol on the e-learning for free.

At the end of the e-learning, they must select Humberside and complete the form. Without doing this they will not be able to attend the face-to-face section of the training (either in person locally or online).

Learners can then do one of two things:

The first option is they can book on to a zoom course to complete the course. These are found here https://training.hampshirescouts.org.uk/first-aid/ and are delivered online by Hampshire. Completion of a course with Hampshire will give the learner a certificate of completion that should be sent to their TA or LTM. The learner then only needs to demonstrate competence at CPR in person with a first aid trainer. This can be organised locally.

The second option is to book on to a 2 and a half hour session locally. These will be up and running in the next couple of months once the current batch of planned courses have been completed. We plan to run one of these courses at least every 2 months face to face somewhere in the county to ensure everyone who has completed an online course can get signed off.

With this in mind, it is vital that we encourage members to do the e-learning courses well in advance of the expiry of their current First Response training to ensure we do not end up having to suspend people who go none compliant. These local courses, will as always, be found on the county website here https://www.humbersidescouts.org.uk/training/training-calendar.
