Keeping Everyone Safe – COVID and Activity Risk Assessments

  • Changes in guidance are good to see, but don’t expect Green to be completely back to normal – think shades of green!
  • Discussion was had around the online platform ScoutRams.org.uk as a place for Leaders to share Risk Assessments between Sections and Groups. Software is cheep and integrates with OSM too.
  • Suggestion of an email Group of Leaders who are competent in Risk Assessments through work, that Leaders could email if they wanted support or guidance.
  • Process for Nights Away Notifications currently is as follows:
    1. COVID Risk Assessment submitted to District for approval.
    2. Leaders complete Activity Risk Assessment for the night away.
    3. Once COVID RA has been approved, submit both Risk Assessments with your NAN Form.

District Equipment Storage

  • Christchurch building in South Ella is closing so District Equipment needs a new home.
  • Anlaby have offered use of their building but it may not all fit.
  • Goole, Kirkella & Howden all offered space at their buildings if required.
  • Arrangements for moving dates to be sent to the above GSLs to attend.

2021 AGM Plans

  • Will just be the formal, required part of the AGM this year. We will catch up with Top Awards when it is possible to do so.
  • Will be held at North Cave Village Hall and members can attend in person, but there is a limit on places for social distancing. Tickets should be booked through the Bookings website.
  • It will also be live streamed for those not attending in person.
  • We do have spaces on the Exec, so anyone interested should send their nomination into Linda or Scott.

Training

  • First Aid training must be completed before 31/12/21 or you will be suspended. 10b face-to-face element will be run by County, look out for dates on the website.
  • It will be a Leader’s own responsibility going forward to make sure their training is always in date, if not they face suspension, just like with a DBS.

Explorers and Young Leaders

  • Please share any Young Leaders to the District and County OSM Sections, so they can be invited to the training.
  • Remember not all Explorers have to be Young Leaders and they should have plan and start date for the Section they will be volunteering with.
  • Looking at Poacher 2022, more details to follow.
  • Newly appointed D of E Advisers in the County – Rachel Breeden and Jo Parker.
  • Any Explorers turning 18 soon should get in touch with Rory if they are interested in Network.

Tablers Wood Update

  • Problems on site have quietened down recently – great news!
  • Plans for outdoor shelter are in place, but didn’t want this to be put up for it to be vandalised.
  • Next working day is 11th July, for anyone that wishes to come and help out.

AOB

  • Number Check October – Like a mini census, but no money taken. Adult numbers should be taken straight off Compass. Form for young people will apparently be easier than the Census one to fill in!
  • Permits – It is a Leader’s own responsibility to check their permits are in date before planning to run an activity (including Nights Away Permits). You will need to give Assessors plenty of notice and ensure you have completed a Logbook to go with your form. All permit expiry dates can be checked on their own Compass profile.
  • County AGM – 19th September at Raywell
  • Squirrels – Our new 4-6 year old provision (pilot was called Hedgehogs). Groups need to apply before opening a Section and must meet a list of criteria points first. HQ would like to here form any Groups in deprived areas or in a BAME community.
