Leaders in the District who have submitted on line Nights Away Notifications (NAN’s) will have noticed some changes recently.

  • There is now a provision on the form to include Squirrels in your Group as they can now attend Nights Away Events.
  • Leaders must consider contingency plans in the event that their planned programme cannot  be followed through. An example  could include a worsening of weather conditions on a camp or on a hike activity while away.
  • There is now requirement for District Commissioner approval in response to the submission of the NAN.

Some content has been reordered within the guidance, some additional support relating to how risk assessments relate to safeguarding and individual needs and a reinforcement of how contingency planning fits within the risk assessment process, is now included.Any questions relating to these changes, please ask at dc@blacktoftbeacon-scouts.org.uk or
