The Scouts has made changes to the volunteer welcome journey in recent years, including the introduction of Welcome Conversations and simplified learning.
At the moment, we don’t have enough Welcome Conversation Volunteers in Blacktoft Beacon, and we’d love more people to get involved. This flexible role involves supporting new volunteers alongside the Group Lead Volunteer, offering an independent, friendly voice to welcome them and explain what to expect.
To get started, all that’s required is a 10-minute e-learning course. You can support as many (or as few) conversations as you like, at times that work for you. If you’re interested, please speak to your Group Lead Volunteer.
We’ve also seen a drop in completed Wood Badges, and we want to turn that around. We’re looking for a small number of people to support volunteers in achieving their Wood Badge and validating learning — focusing on encouragement and development rather than administration.
